Development of Religious and Moral Values in Adulthood
Keywords:
moral development, religious values, adulthood.Abstract
The development of religious and moral values in adulthood is a complex process influenced by various factors, including social environment, education, life experiences, and personal reflection. While many studies have explored moral development in childhood and adolescence, research on the dynamics of religious and moral values in adulthood remains limited. Therefore, this study aims to analyze how adults shape, internalize, and apply religious and moral values in their daily lives. This research employs a qualitative approach using literature studies and in-depth interviews with adults from diverse social and religious backgrounds. Data were analyzed using a phenomenological approach to understand subjective experiences and the factors influencing moral and religious development. The findings indicate that religious and moral values in adulthood develop through the interaction of life experiences, moral challenges, and reflection on personal beliefs and principles. Family, culture, and community play a crucial role in shaping and reinforcing these values. Furthermore, adults tend to undergo a process of reconstructing religious and moral values based on deeper life experiences and understanding. Thus, the development of religious and moral values in adulthood is dynamic and continuously adapts to social changes and individual experiences.
